About Me

Growing up in China, my precocity in visual arts was nurtured under private tutelage of instructors from art academies, building strong fundamentals from an early age.  Before moving to the Bay Area in 1984, I was an established artist in Hong Kong, teaching and painting for local and European collectors. While living in the Bay Area and raising my two lovely children, I have continued to paint, teach, and broaden my artistic skills. In the early 1990s, my paintings were on display at the Whitman Galleries in Corona Del Mar and the El Sobrante Library.  From 1999 till 2017, I ran a florist in Lafayette, an unique experience that allowed me to explore another creative medium in floral design and at the same time provided a gallery to showcase my paintings. I further expaned my services to also include portrait painting and antique painting restoration for my clients.

I paint with brushes and use palette knives to add texture.  I often find myself inspired by the minutiae that give our world its essential light such as happiness, friendship, serenity, vibrancy and all the beautiful qualities bought to us by our Creator.  The mannerisms of the children playing on a shore reflect their curiosity and earnestness we too often leave behind.  The waterlilies on the surface of a pond invite us to go deeper into their mysterious universe. Life is full of delightful moments; I endeavor to capture them in their fullness and share them with you.
